The General Meeting of the Ukrainian Association of Adult Education was held
On December 16, 2023, the General Meeting of the Ukrainian Association of Adult Education was held. More than 30 participants took part in the event. Among them are invited experts in the field of adult education, members of the Association and winners of contests held by the UAOD this year.
At the beginning of the event, the executive director of the Association Mykyta Andreev, the chairman of the board of the Association Larisa Lukyanova, the director of the DVV International Representative Office in Ukraine Oleg Smirnov spoke, and the head of the subcommittee on higher education of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, People’s Deputy of Ukraine Yulia Hryshina made a video address. They congratulated the participants of the event and emphasized the importance and relevance of the development of adult education in the current conditions. In particular, in her speech, Yuliya Hryshina congratulated the winners of the “Capital of Learning and Education of Adults” competition, which was held for the first time in Ukraine, and emphasized the value of implementing such an initiative to draw attention to adult education: “For Ukraine, the issue of adult education is extremely relevant. Already now we need to retrain thousands of unemployed people, help war veterans acquire a new profession. We are developing this topic both at the local and state levels. Currently, draft law No. 7039 is being prepared for the second reading with a large number of innovations that will contribute to the development of adult education in Ukraine. And the competition should become traditional.”
In addition to the mentioned speakers, the winners of the “Capital of Learning and Education of Adults” competition and the winners of the VII All-Ukrainian competition of projects in the field of adult education in four nominations: the best project using games and gamification, civic education, professional education and retraining, personal development gave presentations at the event , as well as the Grand Prix nomination. During the event, the winners received statuettes and gifts.
A number of issues were also discussed during the meeting, including those related to the development of the Association, the adoption of the draft law “On Adult Education” and the prospects of adult education in Ukraine in general.
